Production & Heritage
La Rojena, located in the town of Tequila in Jalisco, is one of Mexico’s oldest operating distilleries and remains the home of Jose Cuervo’s premium tequila production. Only the flavorful inner portion of hand-selected blue agave plants is used; the pi?as are cooked for a total of 48 hours?36 hours via direct vapor injection followed by 12 hours resting in residual heat. What sets Reserva De La Familia Reposado apart from the broader Cuervo lineup is its triple-oak aging program: heavily toasted American oak barrels deliver baked spices, while lightly toasted American and French oak casks contribute gentler toffee and vanilla character. The interplay of these three barrel styles creates a layered complexity uncommon in the reposado category.
